The Patrician Academy triumphed in the AIB ‘Build A Bank’ Cork regional Finals on Tuesday (18th March), being named outright winners at the ‘Best Customer Loyalty’ category. With schools all over Cork competing for this prize, the victory was an immense feat for the Academy boys. In recognition each bank team member was awarded with a €100 one for all voucher. The school also received a digital camera and a specially commissioned trophy.
The School Bank team was formed at the beginning of the school year after ‘AIB Mallow’ held extensive interviews within the school. The successful candidates were as follows: Bank Manager-Niall O’Keeffe, Assistant Manager-Colin Twomey, Auditor-Liam Cronin, Sale and Marketing Executive-Barry Healy, Tellers-Eoin Sheehan and Brian Long. The ‘Launch Day’ took place on Monday 29th November with Mrs. Fitzpatrick (school Principal) performing the task of cutting the ribbon. It was an immense success with a large crowd attending.
Since then, the Academy bank has opened on Thursdays at lunchtime. They have also set up a Facebook page, called ‘Facebank’, where they post news in relation to the bank opening times, upcoming promotions and latest news. Furthermore, they provide a ‘Text Alert Service’ in which they send out regular text messages to customers informing them of products and services; opening dates and loyalty competitions.Throughout the course of the year, the bank have held regular promotions: They included a ‘Name the Bank’ competition in January. What this entailed was account holders submitting ideas for a new name for the bank. From the submissions, the bank team chose the most suitable name- ‘The Evergrowing Branch’. The winner received €25 into his account. On Valentine’s Day, a ‘Loyalty Saver Draw’ was held. The winner received two cinema tickets. At Easter the bank team are organising a ‘Most Consistent Saver Competition’. The five most consistent Savers to date will recieve an Easter Egg each. Finally, the summer promotion will be the most anticipated promotion of the year. The ultimate winner of ‘The Most Consistent Saver Competition’ will be announced and will receive an iPod shuffle for his loyalty throughout the year.
Thus, with so many promotions a dedicated ‘Facebook’ page and a ‘text alert service’, the school bank team has ensured that ‘Customer Loyalty’ is to the fore in everything they do. Hence, they were deserving winners and a special thanks goes to their teacher Ms. Wall, and their AIB Student Officer Elizabeth O’Connell without whom such success would not have been possible.
